Funeral services are Friday for a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation office who died in the line of duty last weekend.

Eugene Wynn died when he and a Pine County deputy were thrown from a boat on Cross Lake while responding to a call. He was 43.

Spokesman James Honerman says the Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.

"Our role there will be to inspect the work area for safety or health hazards, try to determine what caused or contributed to the accident, then review whether any existing OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards were violated," he said.

Rescuers weren't able to reach Wynn when he went below the surface. His body was recovered after a five hour search.

Eugene Wynn is survived by a wife and two children. Flags across the state are flying at half staff in his honor.
