Heat index reaching dangerous levels on Monday

It'll feel like triple digits

July 15, 2019 - 6:35 am

It'll be  another hot and humid day on Monday in the Twin Cities.  So hot, that the National Weather Service has heat advisory continuing until 10:00 p.m.

The dewpoint is hovering around 70, making it feel like more like 100 degrees instead of the actual temperature of 90 degrees that is expected for Monday's high temperature.

These days are especially dangerous for those who must work outside, as the danger is real for heat exaustion or heat stroke.

WCCO's Paul Douglas says, "Random storms will mushroom over Minnesota through the end of this week in response to daytime highs near 90F, high dew points and a stubborn frontal boundary nearby.  We got off to a cool spring, but meteorological summer (since June 1) is 1.2F warmer than average at MSP. Gazing at the maps it appears we're making up for lost time."

Weather across most of the country is running hot right now and is expected to last into the weekend.  So far, summer heat has been pretty ordinary through the Midwest while the East Coast has been sizzling.
