In the second edition of 830 WCCO News Talk's political podcast, Beers with Blois, Sen. Maj. Leader Paul Gazelka tells host Blois Olson that he sees a route to possible compromise with Gov. Tim Walz in their ongoing budget negotiations—he just wants the govenor to make the first move.

A key exchange occurs near the 2:30 minute mark, when Gazelka responded to a question Olson asked about the provider tax.

"That will be an epic discussion. I'm simply asking the governor take all that transportation money off first and then we'll have a conversation about the rest," he said. Later adding,  "I'm saying take that one off and let's talk about the rest of it and let's get outta here."

RELATEDWalz: The gas tax isn’t dead yet, but he's open to 'different combination of things'

He also said that while Walz may have won the last election, Republican senators had just as many votes in the 2016 election, and also have a mandate to carry out.
