The search for two missing Somali teenagers came to a tragic end Sunday night at a pond in Chaska

Bushra Abdi and Hapsa Abdalla were both 19 years old, and best friends.

They were last seen early Saturday morning after taking a break from their night-shift jobs.

After driving off, one of them called 9-1-1 for help, and the phone cut off.

"First, we didn't know what it was," Somali community leader Jaylani Hussein told WCCO television. "The girls were missing, everybody wanted to know where they are. No one knew where they were."

Family and friends staged a frantic search that came to a conclusion yesterday when authorities spotted tire tracks leading into the pond.

"Finally, the news we expected was not the news we heard," said Hussein "But, the family, at least they have some peace."

The car was found in the water, emergency crews revealing one body was in the vehicle, and the second in the water nearby.

It's not known what caused the crash, but foul play is not suspected.
