Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar questioning of US Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh took a bizarre turn Thursday when a defiant Kavanaugh started asking the questions.

It began when Klobuchar asked Kavanaugh about stories from classmates that he would drink to a point of blacking out.

"So you're saying that there's never been a case where you've drank so much that you didn't remember what happened the night before or part of what happened?"

Kavanaugh responded.  "You're asking about, yeah, blackout, I don't know, have you?"

After a pause, Senator Klobuchar continued. "Could you answer the question, judge? So, that's not happened, is that your answer?"

Kavanaugh again turned the tables. "Yeah, and I'm curious if you have."

Klobuchar responded, "I have no drinking problem, judge."

"Nor do I," Kavanaugh answered, and Klobuchar ended her questioning.

After a break in the proceedings, Kavanaugh apologized to Klobuchar.

Earlier, Klobuchar questioned Dr. Christine Blasey Ford about what she "didn't forget" from the night Ford alleged Kavanaugh assaulted her.

Here is audio of the exchange between Kavanaugh and Klobuchar:
