One person was injured in a fire at an assisted living and senior apartment facility in St. Louis Park.

Crews were called around 5 a.m. Thursday to the Menorah Plaza Apartments on Minnetonka Blvd. for the blaze that broke out on the eighth floor. The injured person was a resident of that floor.

"The sprinklers controlled it" St. Louis Park Assistant Fire Chief Hugo Searle said. "We were dealing with alot of smoke from the fire so we did some ventilation and extracted all smoke from the seventh floor and the eighth floors."

A couple dozen residents were evacuated and were waiting outside as fire crews worked inside. So far the cause of the blaze has not been determined. There is no word on the condition of the injured person.
