It’s strange to hear with Minnesota being the Bold North and the Mall of America its preferred place of shopping for some Minnesotans and out-of-towners. Nevertheless, the Mall’s first ever ice rink is now open.

“This is the first time we will have a rink at Mall of America, Skate the Star by UCARE, we’re super excited. It’s beautiful out here on the north side,” said Jill Renslow, Senior Vice President of Business Development at MOA.

The rink is located in front of the J.W. Marriot Hotel on the north end of the Mall and it’s completely free, so bring your own skates.

“And if you don’t have skates we have skates for rental through the Boys & Girls Club. So 100 percent of the proceeds, it’s $5 per pair, will go to the Boys a& Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities,” said Renslow. “Over 9,000 kids from the Twin Cities area will benefit from these donations.”

The rink is the double size of MOA’s rotunda at 12,000 sqft. The rink stays open through January. You can click here for more information and hours of operation.
