The Vikings have waived Daniel Carlson the day after the rookie kicker missed three field goal attempts during Sunday's 29-29 tie with the Green Bay Packers, including a 35-yard attempt in the final seconds of overtime that would have won the game.

"It's the business of the NFL," said Vikings safety Harrison Smith during his weekly radio show on WCCO. "You've always got to be prepared when your number is called. Always be in the playbook, ready to go, no matter what position you're playing. I obviously feel for Daniel, but that's the nature of the NFL."
