Heat will combine with high humidity in the southern part of Minnesota today, making for an uncomfortable if not dangerous afternoon.

With high temperatures in the low to mid 90's and dew points in the low to mid 70's, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the area from 1pm to 8pm.

"That combination, if you're out of the breeze, will make it feel like 100 degrees or so," said WCCO Radio Meteorologist Mike Lynch. "The saving grace is that there will be a southwest wind at between 10 and 15 miles an hour."

Health experts warn that heat illnesses are possible for those active outdoors or those especially susceptible, such as the elderly and children.

Tonight, there is a slight chance of some severe thunderstorms as well. Any rain we get will not happen until later this afternoon and evening.
