Earlier police chase reached 75 MPH

Highway 100 in Edina was closed in both directions for an apparent standoff for hours Saturday afternoon before being opened back up around 2 p.m.

SWAT teams on the scene between Highway 62 and Excelsior Blvd. negotiated with the driver, who stayed inside a pick-up truck and was uncooperative with law enforcement.

He finally surrendered and was arrested after paradmedics checked him for injuries.

Police say it started when officers responded to a welfare check for a man at Breseden Park after 9:30 this morning. The man slammed into a squad car and fled when officers approached.

A chase followed and concluded with a crash.

Police say no one was hurt in the incident.
