The first football game at St. Paul's new soccer stadium is next year's matchup between Saint John's and St. Thomas.

The arch-rivals will play October 19, 2019 at the home of Major League Soccer's Minnesota United.

Last fall, the game was played before 37,335 at Target Field, setting an NCAA Division III attendance record for football.

In October, 16,922 watched the games at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.

Construction is nearly complete for Allianz Field in St. Paul's Midway neighborhood.

"Everyone at Minnesota United is excited to host this classic Minnesota rivalry – the St. Thomas-Saint John's football game – at our brand-new home, Allianz Field," said Minnesota United CEO Chris Wright. "We cannot wait to honor this great tradition by creating an incredible atmosphere and experience for the players, coaches and — most importantly — the fans."

Allianz Field has a listed capacity of nearly 20,000.
