Segment of Klobuchar's remarks are released to media

The Senator is expected Sunday to reveal plans for 2020 presidential election

February 09, 2019 - 8:45 am

Senator Amy Klobuchar is expected to announce Sunday that she is running for president in the 2020 election.

She'll make that announcement in the cold and possibly scattered snowfall in front of supporters at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis.

A stage has been set up at the park hard by the Mississippi River and with a pictureque view of the downtown Minneapolis skyline.

A segment of her prepared remarks has been released to the media:

"I am asking you to join us on this campaign. It's a home-grown one.  I don't have a political machine. I don't come from money. But what I do have is this: I have grit. I have family. I have friends. I have neighbors. I have all of you who are willing to come out in the middle of the winter. All of you who have took the time to watch us today. All of you who are willing to stand up and say people matter."
