A change in leadership at Minneapolis' 4th police precinct.

Just days after news broke about a Christmas tree being decorated with insensitive items inside the precinct headquarters, word Monday that, at the direction of Chief Medaria Arradondo, Assistant Chief Mike Kjos will take over duties leading the 4th Precinct.

Kjos was inspector of the 4th Precinct from 2012 to 2015. The precinct serves North Minneapolis.

Kjos replaces Inspector Aaron Biard. Biard had said the items placed on the tree were done so as a prank. Two officers were placed on paid leave for their actions.

Mayor Jacob Frey has issued a statement says he supports the chief's deicision.
