Minneapolis police have made no arrests in the city's latest homicide.

It happened shortly before midnight Monday in the 3400 block of Newton Avenue North. Police were alerted to a ShotSpotter activation.

While police were on their way to the scene, a 911 caller reported an adult male lying in an alley near that location. Police could not find a pulse on the victim.

"Officers began CPR on the victim," said MPD spokesman John Elder. "Life-saving efforts were not successful and he was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

This is the 11th reported homicide in Minneapolis in 2018.

Investigators plan to canvass the area looking for any witnesses. The cause of death and the victim's ID will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
