Parker Tuome and Jake Jaremko scored early in the second period and Mathias Israelsson stopped 14 of 15 shots to lift Minnesota State Mankato to a 2-1 win over the Gophers on Saturday and a sweep of their weekend home-and-home series.

Video confirmed that Jaremko's game-deciding shot was blocked by goaltender Eric Schierhorn, with the rebound deflecting off the skate of Gopher defenseman Rem Pitlick and into the net.

The win in front of a sold-out crowd of 5,131 at Verizon Center came after the Mavericks routed the Gophers 5-1 on Friday night at Mariucci Arena behind two goals and two assists by Marc Michaelis.

Minnesota State has beaten the Gophers six times in their last eight meetings, and completed a weekend series sweep of Minnesota for the first time since the 2010-11 season.

The Mavericks are 7-1, with four straight wins after dropping their only game of the season on Oct. 20 at North Dakota.

The Gophers are 1-3-1, and haven't won since beating Minnesota-Duluth on Oct. 7 in the team's first season under head coach Bob Motzko.

Rem Pitlick scored Minnesota's only goal on Saturday. The Gophers' only other score over the weekend was by Brent Gates on Friday night.
