The newest members of the Minnesota Timberwolves,  Robert Covington,  Dario Saric and Jerryd Bayless, were introduced to the media Tuesday.

The Timberwolves acquired the three players from the Philadelphia 76ers in the Jimmy Butler trade, which was made official Monday.

Covington is 27-year-old, and is averaging 11.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game this season while shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 39.0 percent from beyond the arc and 73.9 percent from the free-throw line.

He has come to know Karl Anthony Towns over the years, and Towns even gave him a welcome gift

"He had reached out once the deal happened, and said 'Man, you need a coat,' and when I walked into my hotel room, that is what was on my desk," Covington said.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau said the deal would help bolster the team.

"We feel we gave up a very good player in Jimmy, and we feel we have very good players coming back," he said. "We think this will add a lot to our team in terms of depth."

The new Timberwolves are expected to play in Wednesday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Saric is putting up 11.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists on the year. The 24-year-old is shooting 36.4 percent from the floor, 30.0 percent from the 3-point line and 90.0 percent from the free throw line.

"I will accept every challenge that the coach puts in front of me," Saric said. "It doesn't matter if I start or come in off the bench. I try to give 100%."

Bayless hasn’t played this season due to a sprain of the knee. It’s unclear when he will be ready to suit up, but he’s a solid veteran with playoff experience. As to being traded mid-season, he said: "Taking your life and uprooting that in an hour is difficult. For me, I've been through it, so I knew the things that were going to come with it, but for the younger guys, that's the toughest part."

The Timberwolves are 5-9 on the season after winning their first game of the post-Jimmy Butler era. Robert Covington and Dario Saric will immediately enter the rotation as key players who can provide shooting.
