Motorcyclist dies in north metro

State Patrol says he made contact with a car before losing control

A 40-year-old Brooklyn Park man is dead after a motorcycle crash last night in the north metro.

Emergency responders were called just after 5 p.m. Friday last night on I-694 east at Humboldt in Brooklyn Center. According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, a Volkswagen Passat driven by a 63-year-old White Bear Lake man and a Suzuki Motorcycle were both traveling Eastbound.

The motorcycle then attempted to move around the car when it made contact with the right rear of it and then lost control.

The man who died has been identified as Travis Eckman. He was not wearing a helmet.
