The southern Minnesota woman accused of killing her husband and a Florida woman is due back in court Wednesday.

Lois Riess, 56, of Blooming Prairie is charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of Pamela Hutchinson. Prosecutors say she tried to steal the woman's identity while on the run after allegedly killing her husband David in March.

Riess befriended Hutchinson, who had a similar appearance, prosecutors say. She has pleaded not guilty and is being held in the Lee County jail.

The Florida State Attorney’s Office filed its intent to seek the death penalty.

Murder charges are pending in Minnesota.
