New Hope police stand-off ends peacefully

Suspect peacefully surrendered, 2 children unharmed.

Two children are back with their mother after being held hostage for 18 hours in New Hope. 

"Ultimately, he walked out on his own will and peacefully was taken into custody by officers," New Hope Police Captain Scott Slawson said.

Swanson says it started Monday night when a woman reported that her boyfriend was threatening her and her two children a home in the 7300 block of 62nd Ave North. Officers located the woman outside the home. 

Police then spent 18 hours trying to talk the man out of the apartment. 

On Tuesday afternoon, the suspect peacefully surrendered. The two children were found unharmed. Several firearms were recovered the apartment.
