New Minnesota Poll has Walz, Johnson in tight race for governor

Election is a little more than two weeks away

October 21, 2018 - 8:42 am

With a little more than two weeks to go before the election, the latest Star Tribune Minnesota Poll shows a close race for governor.

Democrat Tim Walz was favored by 45 percent  of the voters who took part in the poll, which was published in the Sunday Star Tribune newspaper.

The poll had Republican Jeff Johnson picking up 39 percent of the vote.

That represents a small gain for Johnson from the September Minnesota Poll, which had him at 36 percent.

The support for Walz is relatively unchanged since last month's polling.

The poll showed 12 percent undecided among the eight-hundred people surveyed a week ago.

The margin of error is 3.5 percentage points.
