An arrest has been made in the death of a woman who police say was hit by a moving car in Maplewood early Monday morning.

The suspect was still in custody on Tuesday, and authorities could soon file second-degree murder charges in the death of 28-year-old Alejandra Cervantes.

First responders were called about 12:45 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Londin Lane and Crestview Drive, and found the woman lying in the roadway.

The St. Paul woman was pronounced dead at the scene, which is not far from Battle Lake Park.

Police say there is information that indicates Cervantes and another person had a dispute around the same time as the collision.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is helping local police in the investigation.
