Charges are now filed in the Thursday night shooting death of a man on Metro Transit bus in downtown Minneapolis.

26-year-old Malcom James Lessley is jailed on $2 million bail.

The victim was shot in the face, and his identity has not been released.

Another man who was shot is in critical condition at HCMC.

Metro Transit's police chief says additional safety plans for buses and trains are expected to be unveiled next week.

Police say a man boarded the bus near 1st Avenue and 9th Street, just down the block from Target Center, and opened fire on two individuals. One victim died at the scene and the other was taken to a nearby hospital

The suspect fled the scene and was arrested a short time later on 9th Street and Nicollet Mall.

Police believe the shooter knew their victims.

This is the second time in about two weeks that a Metro Transit vehicle has been involved in a homicide.

A man died on Jan. 23 after being stabbed on a Blue Line light rail train.
