Deadly Minnesota tornado upgraded from EF-3 to EF-4

Wednesday afternoon's deadly tornado that tore through parts of Grant and Otter Tail counties was upgraded from an EF-3 to and EF-4 on Friday. The storm killed one person and injured two others.

According to the NWS in Grand Forks, the tornado traveled nine miles after developing at 5:08 p.m. 6.5 miles west of Ashby. The twister lifted 5 miles east of Dalton after reaching estimated peak winds of 170 MPH.

It was the first EF-4 tornado in Minnesota since August 7, 2010 when  a tornado struck Wilkin County.

Wednesay's tornado rating is a preliminary rating. A final rating will be published in the coming months.
