A 13-year-old boy is dead after he was hit by a moving commuter train Friday night in Coon Rapids.

Investigators say two teenagers approached the intersection of 119th Avenue and Northdale Boulevard, and one of them was struck while trying to beat the train moving through the crossing.

No one else was hurt.

The victim is identified by Anoka County authorities as Chason J. Catchings Chivers Jr. of Coon Rapids.

There were fifty people on board the train, and service was restored Saturday morning.

Authorities say the railroad crossing guard rails and warning lights were operating properly at the time of the collision.
