The condition of a five-year-old boy pulled from an Eagan swimming pool Tuesday morning has not yet been released.

It was at 10:20 a.m. when Eagan Police and Fire responded to the Foxridge Estates Apartments regarding a possible drowning.

Police say when they arrived they found a construction worker performing CPR on an unconscious child near an outdoor swimming pool. Paramedics took the boy to Regions Hospital.

The construction worker told police he heard yelling from the boy’s three-year-old sister and rushed to the pool.

“The construction worker saw what was happening and he actually jumped up over the fence and got the boy out of the pool,” said Officer Aaron Machtemes with the Eagan Police Department.

Police say the boy and his sister were at home in a nearby apartment with their mother. At some point, the two left, without the mother realizing,  and walked to the pool, according to a police press release.  Police said it's not clear how the boy gained access to the pool, but investigators believe the child climbed over the fence since the pool's gate was locked.

"Even though this appears as a tragic event our investigation into the matter remains ongoing," Machtemes said.
