Obama endorses 17 Minnesota candidates ahead of midterms

Endorsements include Tim Walz, Tina Smith, and four Congressional candidates

Former President Barack Obama endorsed more than 200 Democratic candidates Monday ahead of next month's midterm elections, including 17 candidates in Minnesota.

The endoresements include Tim Walz and Peggy Flanagan, the DFL ticket for Governor, Tina Smith for US Senate, and four congressional candidates; Angie Craig, Dean Phillips, Dan Feehan, and Joe Radinovich. 

Obama also endorsed a handful of candidates for Minnesota House. 

In a tweet, Obama says the candidates he's endorsing will "expand opportunity for all of us and to restore dignity, honor, and compassion to public service."
