One dead in reported shooting at St. Paul east side house party

There are no arrests in the city's third reported homicide of 2019

There are few details about a reported homicide on the east side of St. Paul.  

It happened overnight on the four-hundred block of Maryland Avenue East.

St. Paul police say there was a house party inside a house in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood when shots rang out.  

A man inside the home that one man was killed and another wounded.  

Police say they were called to the scene about 3:30 a.m. Saturday and found a chaotic scene, with about 20 people inside the house.

Investigators are talking with others who were at the party, and will return to the scene today looking for more information.  

There are no arrests.

This is the third reported homicide in St. Paul this year, and comes after a new report indicates a 32 % drop in homicides in the city in 2018.

That report also shows robberies down nearly 20% in St. Paul in 2018, and arson down 23%. 

It also showed a major spike in reported sexual assault, up 28 percent in 2018.
