Amy Klobuchar’s recent surge in the polls in Iowa has caught the attention of one of the country’s most respected pollsters, who says she could become a “late bloomer” and win the nomination.

That’s how pollster John Zogby described Klobuchar in a recent column for The Hill after a poll showed the Minnesota Senator jumping from 3 to 6 percent in Iowa, putting her in fifth place.

Zogby argued that Klobuchar has performed well in conservative parts of Minnesota, and noted two things he sees as assets for her in the Iowa Caucus — she’s from a neighboring state and is in his view she is “articulating the moderate position in the party better than anyone else in the field.”

When asked about the column on The Morning Show with Dave Lee, News Talk 830 WCCO analyst Blois Olson said  Zogby was a “well-regarded pollster.”

“He says, you gotta watch Klobuchar, she continues to climb. She's sticking around, she's been elected multiple times in rural areas and there is a debate Wednesday and her performance there is going to be watched,” Olson said.
