A Minneapolis man is charged with one home invasion robbery, and suspected of nearly two dozen similar crimes targeting families in Southeast Minneapolis.

Minneapolis Police spokesman John Elder says 33-year old Robert Earl Buckingham and at least three other people are suspected in the home invasion spree over the last several months.

"This group of individuals targeted Hispanic and Latino families.  Homes with children present."

Elder says they know of 23 such home invasions, but there may be more victims who haven't come forward.

"They targeted these groups of individuals, because the suspects believed that they may be undocumented residents, and therefore may not be utilizing financial institutions, and may be less likely to report a crime."

Buckingham has been charged for an August 11th home invasion on the 2700 block of 12th Avenue South, but Elder says more charges will be coming, and more arrests will happen.
