Once again the National Weather Service has put central and southern Minnesota as well as west central Wisconsin under a slight risk for some severe weather Friday afternoon and evening.

"Storms with large hail and strong winds with locally heavy rainfall are certainly a possiblity," said WCCO Radio Meterologist Mike Lynch from our broadcast center at the Minnesota State Fair.

"The best estimate we have as far as timing for the Twin Cities and eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin is late Friday afternoon and evening," said Lynch.

And Lynch says the threat "should subside by late tonight" making way for a nice weekend for the most part, with temperatures near 80 through Monday, Labor Day. That, of course, is the final day of the Minnesota State Fair.
