Three people under arrest after a string of armed robberies in Dakota County

Apple Valley police officers were called to the parking lot of a business near Cedar Avenue for an armed robbery on Wednesday at 4:56pm. A victim reported being robbed at gun point by two men. The suspects fled before police arrived. 

Then, at 6:08 p.m, an armed robbery was reported to the Eagan Police Department. The victim in that incident reported being robbed at gun point by three males. The description given matched the robbery suspects from Apple Valley. 

At 6:35, an armed robbery was reported in Burnsville. The victim in that incident reported being robbed at gun point by three males. The description given, again matched the two previous robberies. 

Finally, at 6:39 pm, another armed robbery was reported in Apple Valley. The victim there also describing similar characteristics, and vehicle involved. 

While officers were checking a commercial business area near where the last robbery took place, they noticed a car matching the suspect vehicle description parked in the lot of a business. As police got closer, the driver took off and while trying to get away, ended up smashing into a squad car, "It was very difficult for our officers to see," said Captain Nick Francis. 

He said the air bags went off in the suspect vehicle, "There was smoke and a lot of confusion about what was going on inside the car, " he said. 

The situation could have been worse. "We were at a crisis point right there, with three armed individuals getting out of a car after just committing some very serious robberies, and we are just happy they chose to obey orders and follow commands when they got out of the car." 

The vehicle they were driving had been stolen in Minneapolis earlier in the day. 

Two adult men are facing charges in Dakota County. A 17 year old is being held in the Juvenile Detention Center in Hastings.
