It's "Media Day" for the Minnesota Timberwolves, with much of the conversation focused on news that forward Jimmy Butler wants out of Minnesota.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau spoke to reporters at Target Center Monday."We're fine," said Thibodeau about his relationship with Butler. "I've been around Jimmy a long time and he was straightforward and I was straightforward with him, so we're good."

The Timberwolves won 47 games last year with Butler on the team and made it to the playoffs for the first time in 14 years.

Thibodeau said they want to make sure they get a good deal on the trade because Butler is considered a top 10 player in the NBA.

"Our job is to try to acquire the best players that we can, and then put a plan in place where we can work with our players to compete."

If no deal can be reached, it is possible that Butler would play this season.

There have been rumors of discontent between Butler and some players who he thought were not competitive enough but Thibodeau would not discuss the reasons that Butler wanted to be traded.

"Conflict in the NBA is not unusual. Every team has it and so you have to navigate through it. We have to put the team, and winning first."

According to reports, Butler is interested in three teams, "My phone is ringing. We are looking forward to seeing what is available,"  said General Manager Scott Layden.

The first pre-game against Oklahoma City Thunder is scheduled for Oct. 5 at the Target Center.
