Twins make first cuts of the season

Promising prospects Alcala, Thorpe, Gordon to start season in minors

The Minnesota Twins announced today the first of their roster cuts this spring. The team optioned promising prospects Nick Gordon, Jorge Alcala, and Lewis Thorpe to start the 2020 season in the minor leagues. Thrope was expected to compete for the place in the Twins' opening day pitching rotation. 

Other prospects optioned were Dakota Chalmers, Jhoan Duran, Travis Blankenhorn and Gilberto Celestino. Fernando Romeo was placed on the Restricted List. 

The Twins are now down to 55 players on their spring training roster.
