Some notes following Sunday's 7-0 win over Chicago...

How Sweep It Is… The Twins 7-0 victory over the White Sox on Sunday earned them their seventh series sweep of the 2019 season. The Twins last swept the White Sox in a series from September 28-30, 2018 in a four game set.

Dominance… The sweep of the White Sox wasn’t just their second straight sweep of a series, it was a dominant one. The Twins, owners of a +111 Run Differential, outscored Chicago 26-5.

Only 5.1IP for Odo?... It seemed like Jake Odorizzi was rolling on Sunday in the 6th when manager Rocco Baldelli lifted him. Speculation centered on his high pitch count (93/58) and being about to see the White Sox order for the 3rd time. After the game it turned out that Jake was also fighting an illness. “It just kind of caught up with me in about the 4th inning on, getting the breathing going,” said Odorizzi, “I was having trouble just getting a deep breath and then feeling like I was choking afterwards because of all the drainage going on.”

La Tortuga es La Tortuga… In the 7th inning on Sunday, Willians Astudillo did Willians Astudillo things…

After the game, manager Rocco Baldelli said with a smile on his face, “I’m not surprised that it excited the people. I know what the people come here to see and they come here to see Rosie and Kep hit home runs and they come here to see Willians take extra bases. That’s what they’re waiting for more than anything else.”

Hunting Another Record… Their win on Sunday improved the Twins record this month to 19-6. That’s the most wins in a month since they went 20-7 in August of 2017. The team mark for most wins in a season came in 1969 when they went 23-7. They have four more games in May of 2019, so they have a shot at 23 wins, and they’d technically have a better winning percentage than the ‘69 club with only six losses.

Double-Digit Hits… The Twins came into Sunday having recorded double-digit hit totals in each of their last five games. Though they scored 7 runs on Sunday, they came on just six hits, snapping that streak. They’ve now recorded double-digit hits in nine of their last 11 and 11 of their last 15 games.

Florida Stars… A league-leading eight players from the Twins Single-A affiliate Fort Myers Miracle are headed to the FSL All-Star Game on June 15th. SS Royce Lewis, OF Trevor Larnach, C Ryan Jeffers, 1B Lewin Diaz, LHP Byan Sammons, RHP Alex Phillips, RHP Johan Quezada and RHP Tom Hackimer will join skipper Toby Gardenhire in Jupiter, FL for the All-Star festivities.

Minor League Player/Pitcher of the Week… Fort Myers C Ryan Jeffers was named Twins ML Player of the Week. Jeffers hit .400 with 2 HR, 4 RBI, 3 BB and a .478 OBP for the Miracle in six games. Cedar Rapids RHP Austin Schulfer was named Twins ML Pitcher of the Week.

College World Series Bound… The Twins honored the Gopher Softball team before Sunday’s game. The Gophers are headed to the College World Series for the first time after beating LSU in the NCAA Super Regional
