Two deaths in Minnesota are linked to a national food poisoning outbreak blamed on Arizona-grown romaine lettuce.

In figures updated Friday, health officials say they also have learned of deaths related to the e-coli outbreak in Arkansas and New York. That brings the nationwide total to five.

They also report 25 more cases nationwide that raises the totals to 197 illnesses in 35 states, with at least 89 cases requiring hospitalization.

The Arizona growing season is long over and it's unlikely any tainted lettuce is still in stores or people's homes. But there can be a lag in reporting, and reports of illnesses have continued to come in.
