In a story first reported by the NFL Network, Minnesota Viking free-agent linebacker Anthony Barr has reversed course and decided to stay with the Purple.  Barr is forgoing a new destination with New York after communicating with the Jets that he intended to sign with them on Monday, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported.

Barr's surprising change of plans comes after it was long thought he would test the free-agent market after playing out an option year for the Vikings.  He was the sixth-ranked free-agent on the market according to the NFL Network and was expected to sign in New York this week.

Barr has been a Pro Bowl Linebacker for the Vikings each of the past four seasons and has played his entire five-year career in Minnesota after being drafted out of UCLA.

The Vikings, short on salary cap dollars, have made several moves to cut money and make room for re-signing players.  The Star Tribune is also reporting that the Vikings have submitted a restructured contract to Defensive End Everson Griffen who is due  $10.9 million in 2019.  The team has until Friday to restructure Griffen's deal before it becomes guaranteed.
