The Wild dropped their preseason opener Monday night at Winnipeg, with the Jets taking the 2-1 win on a third-period goal by Joe Morrow.

The go-ahead goal midway through the final period came after Matt Hendricks had tied the score with his first goal since signing a free-agent deal with the Wild.

Hendricks, who played prep hockey at Blaine and help the Bengals to the Class AA state championship in 2000, is playing with his sixth NHL team.

Marko Dano gave the Jets the early 1-0 lead, beating Wild goaltender Andrew Hammond late in the first period.  Hammond made 28 saves as he tries to win the backup goaltender job to Devan Dubnyk.

The Wild play back-to-back nights starting Wednesday when they take on the St. Louis Blues at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.

It's the first NHL action in Iowa since the old Minnesota North Stars were drilled by Washington 6-1 in 1984 at Waterloo's McElroy Auditorium.

Thursday night, the Wild play their Xcel Energy Center preseason opener against the Dallas Stars. They're also in downtown St. Paul on Saturday night to face Colorado.

The Wild open the regular season October 4 at Colorado, with the home opener two nights later against Vegas.
