Justin Dowling scored with less than five minutes remaining in regulation to snap a 1-1 tie, and Dallas went on to edge the Wild 3-1 in the first preseason game of the year at the Xcel Energy Center Thursday night.

Zach Parise tied the score late in the second period before Dowling put the puck past Devan Dubnyk for the go-ahead goal.

Radek Faska scored an empty net goal in the closing seconds for the Stars.

Miro Heiskanen gave Dallas the early lead with a first-period goal.

Dubnyk made 20 saves while former Wild goaltender Anton Khudobin started the game for Dallas and stopped 14 shots.

Parise's goal came when Colton Point was in goal for Dallas. Point also made 12 saves.

The Wild have lost all three of their preseason games so far, and are home in downtown St. Paul Saturday night to face Colorado.

Dallas is 2-0 in the preseason, and hosts the Wild on Monday night.
