Dave Lee

M-Fri 6-9 a.m.

Dave Lee has been with WCCO Radio for 30 years.  He has been honored nationally by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, locally by the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, the Minnesota Military Family Foundation and recently received the Alan Page award from Bolder Options for youth mentoring.  He continues to be actively involved with the Federated Challenge for Kids of Minnesota, benefiting Big Brothers and Big Sisters.   Dave and his wife Julie also fund a Journalism Scholarship at the University of Minnesota.  He created an early morning “Gutterbowl” that has raised hundreds of thousand dollars for charity and continues to be held every year.  

On the air as the WCCO Morning News Host from 6-9 AM, he has received numerous Murrow Awards, Northwest News Broadcast News Association awards and nominated as one of the top 5 Major Market Morning Hosts nationwide.  Dave has been involved with classes at the U of MN Carlson School of Business and co-hosts the Carlson Quarterly Business Reports.  His play by play has been recognized many times by the AP and NWNBA as the best in The Twin Cities, including last year’s broadcast of the national record-setting St Thomas vs St John’s football game at Target Field.   He has been a play by play announcer at every level, High School, College and filled in for the Minnesota Twins from 1991-1996 (including the 1991 World Series.) He also does occasional Play by Play on TV and has won three Emmys.  He also is a 6-time winner of the Minnesota Sports Broadcaster of the Year by the National Association of Writers and Broadcasters. 

Dave and Julie are parents of three children and two grandchildren.
