St. Paul native Matt Birk was a 3-sport athlete in high school and went on to play football for Harvard. Drafted by the Vikings in 1998, he went on to win a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013. Shortly afterward, he announced he'd donate his brain to Boston University's Medical School for concussion research. Throughout his career, his Catholic faith was a guiding force. He and his wife have eight children. In 2019, they started a Catholic high school in Burnsville, Minnesota.
