Paul Fenton settles in as Wild GM

Says he's got to "analyze everything"

It's the first full day on the the job for new Wild general manager Paul Fenton after his introductory press conference Tuesday.

"I"ve got to get here and analyze everything, speak with the staff, try to get up to speed with everything," he told WCCO's Dave Lee Wednesday morning on the Morning News.

"As an outsider, it looks a lot different. I want to find out what the intracacies are, how people do their jobs and what their opinions are of players." He said again that he is not planning a major overhaul of the team.

Fenton takes over for former GM Chuck Fletcher, who was let go after the team was once again bounced from the playoffs in the first round this season. In introducing Fenton on Tuesday, Wild owner Craig Leopold said the Wild only needs "a few tweaks" to make the Wild a Stanley Cup contender.

As for a Minnesota connection, there is at least one. Fenton was teammates for a short time with Hall of Famer Phil Housely while both played for the Winnipeg Jets.
